Bella was trying to open the box.
“Damn this thing is too heavy. Shall I try to use my wings instead and make a hole of some sort? Oh, but they are still injured. I guess my arms are my best deal for now”
She heard footsteps. “They are coming”, she thought. She sat and turned back into a doll.
“Come on honey! Let’s play. Which doll? Check the box and tell me which one.” said the woman.
“I don’t want any of these dolls. They are old and boring. Can’t we get new ones?”
“Very well!” said her mother smiling.
The little girl nodded and she and her mum left the room.
Bella got up. “Who are you calling old and boring!” She looked around. The lid was open and it was her chance to get out of this place. She felt her broken wings and her eyes immediately watered.
“Don’t cry little fairy”. Bella looked around. “Who is this?” she asked.
“Someone who can help you.” And a broom jumped in front of her. Bella fell on the floor.
“Didn’t mean to scare you. I am broom, to state the obvious.”
“Ehhh…nice to meet you” said Bella. “And you!” said the broom. “Now jump on and let’s go. Have been waiting for that little creature stealing brat to leave the box open for a while now. Quickly! Before they realise.” Bella looked stunned but jumped on the broom and off they went through the open window.
“Mavis! Can you please go to Elisabeth’s room and close the box and the window. We don’t want anyone escaping.” said the mother.
“Yes, ma’am!” said Mavis.
Bella looked back as they were flying away. Mavis looked at her and closed the window pretending not to see her! She was finally free!
